Pre-Germination Preparation
- Use quality cannabis seeds from reputable sources.
- Ensure seeds are mature (dark brown/gray color with tiger stripes).
- Store seeds properly before germination (cool, dry, dark place).
Paper Towel Method
- Place seeds between damp (not soaking) paper towels.
- Put paper towels in a plastic bag or between two plates.
- Keep in a warm, dark place (70-85°F optimal).
- Check daily and keep towels moist but not waterlogged.
- Tap root should appear in 1-7 days.
Direct Soil Method
- Plant seeds 0.5-1 inch deep in quality seed starting mix.
- Keep soil consistently moist but not saturated.
- Maintain temperature around 70-80°F.
- Provide gentle humidity dome if needed.
- Seedlings emerge in 3-10 days typically.
Water Glass Method
- Place seeds in glass of room temperature water.
- Seeds should sink within 24 hours (viable seeds).
- After 12-24 hours, transfer to paper towel method.
- Good for testing seed viability before main germination.
Seedling Care
- Provide gentle light (18-24 inches from seedlings).
- Keep humidity around 65-70% for first week.
- Water gently to avoid disturbing delicate roots.
- Transplant when first true leaves appear.
Phil's Germination Tips
- Scarify old or hard seeds gently with sandpaper.
- Use distilled or RO water to avoid chlorine damage.
- Maintain consistent temperature - fluctuations slow germination.
- Don't disturb seeds too often during germination process.
